九湖镇在龙海区南部，紧邻漳州市区南侧，镇政府设在岭兜村。[1]
全镇面积90.72平方千米，东面与颜厝镇相接，南面与程溪镇相邻，西面与南靖县、平和县接壤，北面与芗城区相连。镇域由漳州高新技术产业开发区代管，龙海区的行政区划表因此未将其计入。[1][4] 镇内以水仙花、荔枝、八卦芦柑和花卉盆景为四大传统特产，木棉亭、岱仙岩、琵琶岩等古迹也在镇域之内。[1][3][5][6][7]
历史沿革[edit]
这一带自古属龙溪县，唐代俗称南乡。[1] 1959年，原胜利人民公社改称九湖人民公社；1984年，公社管理机构转为乡级政府；1992年，乡建制改为镇。[1][2]
1997年，全镇辖有23个村委会。[2] 2013年，国务院批准组建漳州高新技术产业开发区，九湖镇纳入其范围，但在行政区划上仍归龙海市。[1][2] 2019年8月，开发区实行区地合一，芗城区西桥街道下的南星村、大桥社区、南山社区，其社会事务转由九湖镇代管。[2]
2021年2月，龙海市撤销，设立龙海区，九湖镇的行政区划归龙海区，管辖关系仍在高新区。[1][4]
地理环境[edit]
镇域地处九龙江西溪中下游，南面以九龙岭为屏障，北面依托圆山，西溪绕镇东流。[2]
九湖镇属亚热带季风气候。省道郊柏线与国道324线在镇内交汇，其中国道324线这一段是福建通往广东的重要通道。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
2019年统计，镇里共有294家工业企业，规模以上的为36家；工业门类以钟表电子、电子信息、食品加工和机械制造居多。[1][2]
农业上，明永乐二年已有人在此开辟花圃，此后花卉种植逐步扩大，改革开放后村民把花卉种到水田里，规模随之增加。[2] 其中邹塘村是花卉种植较集中的村，以仙人球为主要品种。[8]
花卉盆景、荔枝、水仙花与八卦芦柑被看作镇里传统的四类农产。[3]
名胜古迹[edit]
木棉亭位于木棉村九龙岭下，因南宋德祐元年郑虎臣在木棉庵一带处决权臣贾似道而得名。亭旁立有刻着「宋郑虎臣诛贾似道于此」的石碑，碑为明代俞大猷所立，清乾隆年间重立。木棉亭属省级文物保护单位。[5]
岱仙岩又称仙祖庙，位于田中央村，主祀唐代医家康长史，始建于唐代，1772年（乾隆三十七年）经过修复。1992年，龙海县人民政府将其中的康长史祠公布为县级文物保护单位。[6]
琵琶岩位于圆山东南麓的蔡坂村，主祀康仙祖；仙祖的诞辰庆典定于农历正月二十八日前后，香客多在此过夜祈梦。[7] 岩前一带种有连片的水仙花田。[7]
