梅市村是港尾镇下辖的行政村，位于镇中心区，港尾镇人民政府驻地在本村。[1][2]

名称来历[edit]

村子坐落在梅岭脚下。旧时港尾的农贸集市就设在这里，每逢杨梅上市，多在此交易，因而得名梅市。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1947年为海澄县港尾镇的梅市保，1952年改属海澄县第三区，设梅市乡；1959年成为港尾公社的梅市大队。两县合并后，它仍为梅市大队，归龙海县港尾公社。[1]

1984年，此地设港尾乡梅市居委会；1988年港尾乡改镇，改称港尾镇梅市村；1993年改为龙海市港尾镇梅市村委会。[1]
