下辽村位于白水镇西部，是镇的西大门，与东泗乡相连。村名由早年先民搭建的寮屋而来，「寮」与「辽」谐音。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
村名的来由是：初开发时先民以寮为舍，建了上下两寮。后来上下寮连成一片，上寮人丁稀少，人们统称其为「下寮」，因「寮」与「辽」同音，遂成村名。[2]
经济[edit]
村地处边远山区，交通不便，居住分散，经济以农业水产养殖和外出务工为主。据村级概况，2013年村民人均经济收入为9130元。[3]
2022年12月，村获评「2022年福建省卫生村」。[1]
