历史沿革[edit]
民国时期，这一带属石码镇的大埕保与甘棠保。新中国成立后归龙溪县第三区，分别设大埕街与甘棠街；1958年并入石码公社。1960年并县后，它被编入龙海县石码公社，称甘棠居委会。[1][2]
1966年分设为解放西与解放北两个居委会；1982年，解放北居委会析出一部分，建立解放南居委会。2003年社区整合时，工农路以西的街巷划归侨村、人民西、解放北、九二零等社区，解放南社区则接收了新华、解放东两居委会的部分街巷，定名为解放南社区居委会。[1][2]
