浦南社区是浦南镇的镇中心区社区，位于九龙江北溪江畔，历史上曾为浦南镇政府驻地。[1]

地名的来由与“浦”字有关：此处在九龙江北溪之南，“浦”有水边之意，遂称浦南。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代此处称浦南圩。其后因行政管理不便，此地转由廿三、四都的松洲壁统辖，明清两代都归廿三、四都所管。清代驻有绿营兵，设检查站，称浦南汛。[1]

民国时期，此地隶属浦南乡圩内保，且为区公所与水上水警大队的驻扎地。解放后与西保合并，建成浦南镇并设浦南镇居委会，兼作龙溪县第八区浦南公社及镇政府的驻地。[1]

2020年11月6日，改设为浦南社区居民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，社区被命名为「2023年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
