通北街道位于漳州市芗城区西北部，1999年1月成立，辖区面积5.68平方千米，下辖13个社区。[1][3][4]

街道东以延安北路为界，南抵胜利西路，北以国道319线为界，西侧与金峰开发区相邻。辖区内有漳州市委、市政府驻地，有部队单位，也有二十余所大中小学校和幼儿园。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

“通北”一名由旧时的地名转来。民国时期这一段统称大通北路，明清时则自北向南依次有糖市仔、北庙市、北门街、图龙巷、乌衣巷、柯衙内和东坂后等分段。街道办事处设在大通北路后，便沿用“通北”之名。[1]

街道于1999年1月成立。[1][3] 2014年9月，环境保护部命名通北为「2012年—2013年度国家级生态乡镇」。[2] 2023年，街道作为全市唯一的镇街代表，获得市级「五一劳动奖状」。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

芝山红楼即毛主席率领红军攻克漳州纪念馆，位于芝山南麓的市委机关大院内，原为寻源中学校舍，始建于1924年。1932年4月，红军东路军进占漳州城，毛泽东在此驻留，指挥了相关战斗。[5] 馆舍于1957年8月15日对外开放，当时名为闽南革命文史馆，1971年改称现名。1985年定为省级文物保护单位，2006年改列为国家级重点文物保护单位。[5]

芝山公园俗称芝山，原名登高山，1992年投入使用，占地28.35公顷。园内留有明代亭台遗存威镇亭、甘露亭和仰止亭，1988年其中三座古亭被定为漳州市文物保护单位。[6]
