1995年，政府改建新马路，并整治陈旧的浦头港片区，又规划了一条穿过该片区的道路，社区因此得名。[1]

2002年6月，霞中、圆圈两处居委会及其下属的新浦居委会整合，成立新浦社区。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，社区获评「2023年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
