地名由来[edit]
解放前，社区辖区内设有嘉禾保。解放后设嘉禾街政府，因“嘉”字笔画繁多，改用“加”字，社区因此得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
社区的沿革：1951年6月1日先设嘉禾街政府，此后1954年1月才成为居委会；1968年5月曾改为革命领导小组，直到1980年2月复为居委会。2021年2月起，社区由东铺头街道划归西桥街道。[1][2]
荣誉[edit]
社区于2024年1月获评「2023年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
