名称由来[edit]
村落沿大寺院东侧向寺院山坡下延伸，村名因此得来。[1][3]
历史沿革[edit]
民国年间这里是院下保。1949年解放初隶属潮海乡，称院下村；1958年公社化后改组为院下大队；1984年改称院下村民委员会。[4][2]
交通与布局[edit]
海联路横贯全村，向南连接省道，向北连接沿海大通道；省道201线与水石莲公路也从村中经过。[2]
全村被公路分为东北、西南两片：东北片为商贸居住区，西南片为经济开发区。开发区内有石材加工、陶瓷与纺织服装企业，也有电子产品企业。[2]
华侨[edit]
村中有不少华侨，村民曾迁往美国、英国、越南、菲律宾、澳大利亚等多个国家和地区。海外乡亲仍关心家乡，曾捐资兴办学校、修路造桥。[2]
