名称由来[edit]
据博雅地名网，先民因地势低洼而在低处建房，村名由此而来。[1][3]
历史沿革[edit]
1937年这里属杨子乡的下房保。1949年后这里设为下房村；1958年公社化以后组建了下房大队，1984年改设村民委员会。[4][2]
矿产与产业[edit]
村辖区内的杨子山与前辽山出产花岗岩矿石，主要有锈石与霞红两个品种。[2]
围绕矿山发展起来的石板材加工企业众多，博雅地名网称，北京人民大会堂及天安门广场的饰板材即产自本山的矿石。[2]
交通[edit]
1995年后，石井镇修建的延平大道从村中穿过，连接324国道与201省道。1998年起，村里陆续修建了工业路、环村路与杉仔工业路等主干水泥路。[2]
经济与贸易[edit]
村里建有「闽台农产品交易市场」与「海峡农产品物流中心」，2006年6月8日开业，并举办了首届台湾农产品展销会。[2]
