历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历：古时把养殖海蛏的滩地称为「埕」，村地处大盈溪入海的末端，故称埕尾。后取其山水清秀、土地肥沃之意，改称呈美，别称埕尾。博雅地名网记定名于1884年。[1]
清代属南安县三十七都，民国时期为呈美乡。1958年属文斗公社呈美大队，之后并入官桥公社，又划回水头公社。1984年定名呈美村委会。[1]
陈氏始祖荣山公于明代初年自同安县迁来养鸭，后定居埕尾，子孙繁衍，村民现全部姓陈。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
天心洞在琼花山麓，始建于隋代（581—618年），起初称天香寺，后来以供奉八仙为主，成为佛道兼容的场所。[2]
