水头镇位于福建省泉州市南安市东南部，地处泉州与厦门两座城市之间，东面隔安平桥与晋江市安海镇相望。[1][3]全镇辖5个社区和28个行政村，面积127平方千米，镇政府驻地在水头社区。[1][3][4]2020年末户籍人口123331人。[3]

名称由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，镇名与天然水位有关：文斗、朴山一带的溪流在涨潮时与石井的五马江水势相交，此处正是潮水顶托的源头，故称水头。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代这一带属南安县太平乡常安里。元、明、清三代，境内先后隶属三十七都与四十一都，民国初年设大盈乡和水头镇。[1]

宋建炎四年（1130年），官府在下坊（今下店村下邦自然村）设石井镇榷税，首任镇监为朱松，即朱熹之父。[2]绍兴十四年（1144年）又在下坊设石井巡检司，管理船只出入。[9]

新中国成立后，这里划归官桥与石井两个区管辖。1958年并入官桥红专公社后，于1965年另设水头人民公社；此后称水头乡，直到1985年才改设水头镇。[1]

地理环境[edit]

镇域西高东低，海岸线约11公里。国道324线与福厦漳高速公路贯穿全境，沿海码头可直达外洋。[2]

镇西北的石壁水库位于星辉村，坝址在石壁头，总库容6147万立方米。九溪又名大盈溪，流经境内后注入石井江，即五马江。[11]

人口民族[edit]

石材加工是镇内各村的常见产业，康店、龙风、肖厝等村都有石材厂或石材市场。[18][19][20]

名胜古迹[edit]

郑成功墓在康店村覆船山，始建于1699年（清康熙三十八年），1982年由国务院列为「第二批全国重点文物保护单位」。墓葬以三合土、糖水灰和花岗岩构筑，内分三排九室。[5][18]

天心洞在呈美村琼花山麓，始建于隋代，起初称天香寺，后来以供奉八仙为主，成为佛道兼容的场所。[6][16]

飞瓦岩位于新营村熊山，始建于元代，寺内保存着石雕龙柱等遗物。[7][17]

杨肃墓在南侨村仙公山，是五代医家杨肃的墓地。[8][15]

太乙真人庙位于朴三村，原为杨肃的故居，现为南安市文物保护单位。[10]

沈佺期墓在星辉村，为南安市重点文物保护单位。[11]

仙迹岩寺在南侨村西南的山顶，始建于唐末。1933年秋，晋南县委曾在该寺召集「晋、南、同边区第一次苏维埃代表大会」，会议因受到破坏而中止。[15]

著名人物[edit]

王宣化（1896—1980），巷内村人，清光绪二十二年出生。他早年赴菲律宾谋生并考入菲律宾大学，后参与华侨爱国运动，回国后投身孙中山领导的民主革命，九一八事变后又在上海从事抗日救亡。[12][13]

北宋吕惠卿为朴里人，官至参知政事，是王安石变法的主要参与者之一。[14][10]
