梅元村位于康美镇政府驻地东北约1.8公里处，北靠大梅山，南濒东溪，西面与镇区相接。[1]村域面积，百度百科作6.3平方千米，博雅地名网作9平方千米，两说并记。[1][2]百度百科所记的2008年统计数为4778人；博雅地名网另记总人口4828人，未注年份。[1][2]村名由「梅源」改作「梅元」而来，村中有雪峰寺，泉州市的文物名录把它列在本村。[1][4]
历史沿革[edit]
此地的开基祖是梅斋公，子孙迁居周边，村名先作梅源，有纪念源头之意，后来「源」字写作「元」。[1][2]过去曾称二十都霞苏，民国年间归玲苏乡，新中国成立后另设梅元乡。[1]1958年改隶洪濑公社，其时名为洪元；1965年回归康美公社，恢复梅元之名。[1]1984年起属康美乡，1988年起属康美镇，两个时期的基层组织都是梅元村民委员会。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
泉州市的文物名录把雪峰寺列在康美镇梅元村，寺址在杨梅山，寺的详细情况见康美镇条目。[4][3]村内还有慧泉寺，村中保留着苏氏宗祠群与明清官宅。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2024年1月，梅元村经命名获「2023年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]2022年10月，梅元村入选「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」，认定机关是福建省农业农村厅。[1]
