康美村是康美镇的行政村，也是镇政府驻地所在的村，位于镇区的中心，东溪的东侧，村子临东溪。[1][3]村域面积约7.1平方千米，2023年户籍人口9144人，村民以苏姓居多。[2]村内有清代的太和寺，现存明清古民居十处，村中有康美中心小学，境内还有闽南科技学院。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

村子所在处旧有一座坑尾桥，地名以桥得名。[1]后因「坑尾」与「康美」在闽南话里音近，1958年被雅化为康美，寓意康安富美。[1][3]民国时期此地以苏姓聚居，称作玲苏乡。[1]1984年起隶属康美乡，设村民委员会；1988年改隶康美镇。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子临东溪，境内有307线（南洪公路）经过，道路交通便捷。[1][3]村里分布的自然村数目有出入：博雅地名网记为十八个，百度百科则作十七个，两说并记。[1][2]

人口民族[edit]

常住人口接近两万人，户数为2185户，户籍一项在2023年的统计为9144人。[2]苏姓居多，此外还有江、颜、李、陈、黄、沈等姓氏的人家。[2]

第一产业以种植、养殖和淡水养殖为主；第二产业多见针织、鞋服、石材和建筑。[1]百度百科称农业以龙眼、食用菌和淡水养殖为支柱。[2]

文化[edit]

村域内太和山麓存有清代的太和寺，寺旁尚有明清古民居。[2]村里还有福建师范大学闽南科技学院和霞苏公益图书馆。[2]
