炉中村是乐峰镇政府驻地所在的村，聚落分布在梅仙公路两侧，下辖21个自然村。[1][3]

名称来历[edit]

村名因地形似炉，村民建居于中部而来。[4]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期隶属乐峰乡的金狮保与玉叶保。建国初曾设炉中乡，人民公社年代则归乐峰公社统辖。1999年7月，本村成立乐峰镇炉中村民委员会。[5]

人口民族[edit]

村民共1636户，人口7247人，划分为23个村民小组。[1][3]

地理与经济[edit]

耕地1800多亩，山地6900亩，主要种植水稻、甘薯和花生；山地植被以马尾松、巨尾桉为主，果树则有枇杷、李子、余甘、桃子、龙眼和柑桔等。[1][3]

村内有针织厂、服装厂和石材加工厂等私营企业。[2]

文化[edit]

教育与医疗方面，本村有乐峰中心小学、中心幼儿园和镇卫生院，还设有侨联与振扬文化中心。炉中村是革命老区村，乡村道路总长约8公里，已全部硬化。[2]

村内的乐峰街建于1986年，街上设有超市、茶叶店、服装店和粮行等店面。[2]
