历史沿革[edit]
唐代此地称「炉内」，元、明、清时属南安的七都、八都。民国十七年（1928年）设炉内乡，民国三十五年（1946年）改设乐峰乡；1961年一度隶属梅山区的乐峰公社，后于1965年归入罗东公社。1999年7月，罗东镇划出的部分村庄建立了乐峰镇。[2][3]
镇名的来源有两种说法。一说唐末赣中名士李元溥隐居此山，有人问其缘故，他答以「仁者乐山」，山名由此称「乐山」，镇名取「乐峰」二字；另一说是建镇前镇政府一带的民间已称此处为「乐峰」。[2][3]

户籍人口为40078人，统计时点为2019年底。[4]
经济[edit]
镇办企业有华溪电站。印山林场以果树为主，种有柑橘、枇杷、杨梅、橄榄，另植有速生桉林。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
林俊抗清旧址在湖内村，年代属清代，列入「泉州市市、县级文物保护单位实有名录」，为市级。[7][8]
明英苑在湖内村，占地150亩，建筑面积4000平方米，集旅游、休闲与科研教育于一体。医学家潘明继为之捐建综合楼。[8][5]
文化[edit]
乐峰镇于2012年12月得到环境保护部的认定，属2010—2011年度「国家级生态乡镇」；2020年12月，乐峰镇又被福建省爱卫办确定为「福建省卫生乡镇」。[2]
著名人物[edit]
博雅地名网所列乐峰乡贤有新加坡书法家、诗人潘受和医学家潘明继。潘受原名潘国渠，祖籍福建南安，1935年至1940年任新加坡道南学校校长。潘明继（1933—2012年）为原福建中医学院教授，还在中国抗癌协会下属的传统医学肿瘤专委会担任过秘书长。[2][6][5]
