东山村隶属翔云镇。村委会设在美桥，海拔504米，村子距镇政府驻地约0.5公里，位于其西侧。[1]

地名由来[edit]

宋代宝佑年间，梁珍祥主持在此建造一座尼姑院，取名禄寿院。村子位于禄寿院的东侧，因而得名东山。[1]

禄寿院如今仅余遗址与一些遗物，如马槽、浴盆、石龟等。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

东山先前属二十八都，民国时分属东梅与湖光两保。1958年起归翔云大队管辖；1980年脱离出来，单独设立东山大队。1984年为翔云乡的东山村委会，1991年12月才改为翔云镇东山村委会。[1][2]

地理环境与村务[edit]

全村有8个自然村，村委会设在美桥，地处翔云溪北部。耕地640亩，山地2150亩；村民627户、2284人。[1]

作物以水稻、甘薯为主，兼有油菜和大豆。果树方面有茶树与杂木。村中道路通到仑英公路上。[1]
