山西村坐落在东田镇政府驻地的西南方向，距离约3.5公里；村委会在埔边，村落靠着万天寨东南麓，沿东田溪两岸排开。[1]村名原作山尾，民国时与西坑联保，各取首字成「山西保」，后由村民简化为山西。[1]村内的黄巢山景区是东田镇的一处自然风景区。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

村名原作「山尾」，民国时与西坑合设联保，各取首字成「山西保」，后来村民省去「保」字，简称山西。[1]解放初设山西乡，1958年成立山西大队，1984年归东田乡，1991年改为东田镇山西村委会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

南安市黄巢水利风景区位于本村，景区所在的黄巢山海拔1095米，因唐末黄巢在此屯兵扎营而得名。景区是一条约3公里长的峡谷，沿途多奇石与绿潭，峡谷深处有分三层的瀑布群。[2]
