檀林村距省新镇政府约1.5公里，距南安市区约5公里，东面与康美镇相接，西面至西埔村，北面靠省东村。[1][2]村名原作檀坝，因原住陈姓、村前有堤坝而得，后改为檀林。[1]村境内有泉三高速的互通口，各自然村都通了水泥路。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期此地属崇仁乡檀坝保；1949年后设檀坝乡。1958年并入美林公社，称胜利大队，1964年又改为檀林大队。1984年设美林乡檀林村委会，1988年改属美林镇，1999年1月拆出，归省新镇。[1][2]

人口与土地[edit]

村辖13个自然村，设26个村民小组。博雅地名网记人口4797人，百度百科记常住人口约6000余人，两处数字不同，此处并记，未能确认统计口径。[2][3]

作物以水稻、甘薯、花生为主，耕地1695亩，山地5500亩。[2]
