省身村在省新镇北部，镇政府驻地以北，被称为省新镇的第一大行政村，面积7.5平方千米。[1][3]村境内有大弯、珑交两座水库，耕地1520亩，山地3500亩。[1][3]村名的由来有两说：一说取自《论语》中“吾日三省吾身”的“省身”，另据博雅地名网，解放后乡名以民国初年所建的省身学校命名。[1]1999年1月，村由美林镇划归省新镇。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国年间，这里属崇仁乡的崇山保与乡山保。新中国成立后先设省身乡，合作化时期按新星、阳星、梅胜分成三个高级社。1958年，美林公社下设省身大队；1961年的体制改革把它分拆给南金公社，1965年又收回合为一个大队。[2]

1984年改设美林乡省身村委会，1988年又改成美林镇的村委会，1999年1月才划入省新镇。[2]

人口与村落[edit]

村辖18个自然村，设39个村民小组。博雅地名网记现有村民1905户、7500多人；百度百科记2008年人口约7500人，两者年份不同，此处并记。[2][3]

产业包括仿瓷餐具、塑料制品和卫生巾的生产，也有运输、针织加工与消防器材，据博雅地名网所载。[2]

文化[edit]

2022年10月，福建省农业农村厅将省身村列为第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇；福建省爱卫办于2021年11月授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。2025年3月，省身村被认定为福建省首批省级乡村振兴示范村。[1]
