金丹社区位于省新镇的中心区，辖区面积4909亩，设13个居民小组。[1]社区东侧与檀林村相接，西边以西埔村的富春岭为界，南面靠油园村，北面临双安高速，周边还有省身村、满山红村和丹清村等。[1]2022年6月，南安市政府批准设立金丹社区居民委员会，同年7月挂牌成立。[2]
