福溪社区隶属南安市美林街道，原为福溪村，位于街道驻地东面约2.8公里处。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村境北面有凤凰山，山中有观音佛宫广福堂，村前有西溪流过。村名取「广福堂」的「福」字和西溪的「溪」字，合为「福溪」。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

旧时此地属富川乡的福溪保。解放后称福溪村，1958年设福溪大队，1984年改为美林乡所辖的村委会，1988年归美林镇。[2]

地理环境[edit]

村落沿西溪北畔的河谷呈条状分布，下辖新山、外茂、仙游、龙峰、中甲五个自然村。[2]
