茂亭村位于晋江市东南部，离永和镇区仅约1公里，北面与石狮市服装城相距约4公里[1]。

地理与交通[edit]

南面到围头港约10公里，西面到安海五里桥约10公里，高速公路可直达厦门[1]。

地名与历史[edit]

村名原作「慕亭」，后因方言里的读音相近，雅化成了「茂亭」[2]。

据博雅地名网，村子在明清时属十四都，民国时属康乐亭保。解放前夕，中共晋江中心县委曾在村里开展活动；1949年，村里成立了地下茂亭支部。建国后先后归可慕区和栖梧区的钱亭乡，1961年划归永和公社，1984年改为永和镇茂亭村[2]。

人口[edit]

2021年村情汇总表记载，全村16个村民小组，共885户，总人口3634人，女性1764人，男性1870人；常住人口3445人，60岁及以上589人[1]。外出流动人口189人，约占5.4%，主要前往广东，多从事经商和务工[1]。村中人口较多的姓氏是陈姓[1]。
