玉溪村位于晋江市中部、永和镇北部，离镇政府约2公里，南面与永和村相邻，北面可通石狮[1]。村子大部分是平原，平均海拔三十余米，村北的恒山海拔六十余米[1]。

地理与人口[edit]

全村下辖玉溪、内厝、莲塘三个自然村，以玉溪自然村为主村，共16个村民小组[1]。2021年村情汇总表记载，村内有826户，总人口3150人，女性1314人，男性1836人；常住人口3200人，60岁及以上580人[1]。

外出流动人口1250人，约占全村人口的39%，主要前往江苏、厦门和广东，从事经商和务工[1]。人口较多的姓氏为王姓[1]。

村名与历史[edit]

据博雅地名网，开基祖王敦本路过此地时，恰逢启明星升起，便在这里定居，把村子叫作庚星乡，后可能因谐音被叫作坑边[2]。1947年，旅居菲律宾的华侨在村北建碑亭，挖出一块刻有「玉溪亭」字样的小石碑，1971年村名改为玉溪[2]。

明清时此地属十三都。民国时属至善乡，建国后先后归栖梧区福林乡和龙湖公社管辖，1961年改属永和公社，1984年改为永和镇玉溪村委会[2]。

教育[edit]

玉溪小学在2020年度获评「全国青少年人工智能活动特色单位」[3]。
