英墩村地处晋江市中部，在永和镇北边，离镇区约5公里，东面与山前、梨星两村相邻[1]。博雅地名网称它是永和镇最大的行政村，也是晋江革命老区的基点村[2]。

地理与人口[edit]

村子南面接菌边村，西面与灵源街道英塘社区相连，北面与罗山街道梧垵社区接界[1]。全村下设6个自然村，分别是英墩、沪坑、梧仑、坑尾、前堡和潘厝，主村在英墩自然村[1]。

2021年村情汇总表记载，全村分为30个村民小组，共1947户。男性4017人、女性3488人，两者相加为总人口7505人；常住人口同为7505人，60岁及以上1129人，外出流动人口201人。人口较多的姓氏有许、苏、翁三姓[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

明清时此地属十三都。1944年隶属康乐乡下的英墩保。解放后先后归可慕区管辖、设英墩区，1956年并入栖梧区的古尾乡[2]。1959年改属罗山公社光辉大队，1961年由永和公社领导并设英墩大队；1984年起称永和乡英墩村委会，1991年又改为永和镇英墩村委会[2]。

村名与村旁的英紫山有关，山名为英山，村地上小土墩又多，于是称为英墩[2]。

人物[edit]

村里出过革命干部许东汉，他曾任晋江县副县长和莆田地区商业局长；许天照曾任内坑区委书记[2]。

村内有古竺庵、大使公宫等庙宇，坑尾自然村有古忠庙，沪坑自然村有青莲寺[2]。
