杭边村位于龙湖镇南部，下辖坑边、银埕下、湖仔内3个自然村，村民以洪氏为主。[1][3]

村名古称园边，因旧有官园、“园”“杭”谐音而演为杭边；村中洪氏为英林洪氏分支，别称英杭。[2][3]

地名由来[edit]

据称古时这里有一座官园，宋时有洪氏族人在官园边定居，村名因此称园边。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代属安仁乡弦歌里，明清属十七、十八都，1944年属英林镇上杭保。[2]

1956年划入龙湖乡，1961年归龙湖公社管辖，1985年另设杭边村委会，1991年改隶龙湖镇。[2]

人口民族[edit]

龙湖镇政府2021年公布的行政村信息载，村里常住3047人，党员73名，外来人口1605人。[1]

全村姓洪，其裔分衍香港、澳门、台湾和菲律宾等地。[3]

经济[edit]

村里以拉链五金配件、服饰生产和农作物生产为主；耕地1234亩，农作物有甘薯、水稻、花生和大豆。[1]

村中规模以上工业企业有多家，其中包括福兴集团。[1]
