南庄村位于大深线路旁，在龙湖镇政府驻地西南，广井水库东侧，石厦村与其毗邻。[1][3]

村名原称许婆庄，后谐音改为古婆庄，最后因一个传说改称南庄。[2][3]

地名由来[edit]

五代时，留从效曾途经此地，在一位许姓老妇家中歇脚；他后来显贵，赐老妇宅第与田地，村子因此称许婆庄。[2]

此后谐音演变为古婆庄。据传明代正德年间，皇帝私访至此，远望村子如一条龙环抱，留下“即南龙”三字；新中国成立后，乡贤便以此改称南庄。[2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

明清属十七、十八都，1944年属至善乡南湖保。[2]

1956年划入湖北乡，1961年设龙湖公社南庄大队，1984年设龙湖乡南庄村委会，1991年改隶龙湖镇。[2]

龙湖镇政府2021年公布的行政村信息载，村里有1个自然村，常住1757人，外来人口235人，党员48名。[1]

博雅地名网的概况页则称村委会设于古婆庄，辖古婆庄、新古婆庄两个自然村，与政府资料的说法不同。[3]
