龙园村位于晋江中南部，东面临龙湖，西边有一座长堤坝的水库，下辖龙园、西湖两个自然村。[1][2]

村名原为“龙源”，因与安海灵源的闽南话读音相近，改称龙园。[2]

地名由来[edit]

村子东面临龙湖，远望湖面如银龙跃入东海，故取名龙源，早期也称湖坪。[2]

龙源与安海灵源读音相近，而灵源是佛祖圣地，遂改用谐音的龙园。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代属安仁乡弦歌里，明清属十七、十八都，1944年属英林镇龙山保。[2]

1956年划入龙湖乡，1961年设龙湖公社龙园大队，1984年设龙园村委会，1991年改隶龙湖镇。[2]

经济[edit]

村里以拉链织造、纺织服装和农业为主，规模以上企业有宏伟服饰、剑狼服装等。[1]

村内耕地约680亩，主要种植玉米、地瓜和花生，村庄西侧的农田区有大棚蔬菜。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年2月，龙园村被评入福建省2018至2020年度省级文明村镇社区名单。[2]

村庄于2021年11月被省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[2]

2022年10月，省农业农村厅将其认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[2]
