东宅村位于内坑镇的镇中心片区，村委会以所辖的东宅自然村得名。该地旧称大宅，是陈姓的居住地，后因位置在大宅之东而改称东宅。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据曾氏族谱记载，东宅的开基祖法公最早在内坑齐山山麓立业，后由齐山之麓向三甲一带延伸发展，又在三甲的下溪宅祖厝北面建起曾氏宗祠，今留有遗址。曾氏居住地位于大宅东面，遂称东宅，村落由此形成。[1]
明清时属六都，民国三十三年归亲民乡熊峰保管辖。新中国成立后，1956年归内坑镇，1959年隶属安海公社；1961年起由内坑公社统辖，设东宅大队。1984年起由乡统辖，1992年起由镇统辖。[1]
