茂厝村位于池店镇西部，其东面为仕春村，南面是营边村，西面为屿崆村，北面以清濛开发区为界。[2]村内只有茂厝一个自然村，共7个村民小组。[2]村名原作墓厝，宋代改称茂厝。[1]

地名由来[edit]

古称墓厝，因山间多墓群得名。宋代，村人嫌“墓”字不吉，以方言谐音改为“茂”，称茂厝。此后又因村中秀峰古寺后一块巨石上刻有步云天梯，村名一度被称作茂趣。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期，茂厝村属三十二都。[1]

荣誉[edit]

茂厝村于2024年1月被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」，2021年6月被命名为「2020年度晋江市平安村（社区）」。[1]
