钱头村是池店镇下辖的行政村，位于镇域东部，东邻陈埭镇横坂村，村内只有钱头一个自然村。[3]村名原作钱塘，因村址在陈安桥北端的桥头一带，钱塘被衍称为钱头。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村中原有一座圣母宫，宫门上悬有明代官员李为观所书的“钱塘古地”匾额，匾额于1958年被毁。村中古墓碑也写作钱塘，新中国成立后，华侨来信仍写作泉州南门外钱塘乡。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村地在明清两代隶属二十九都。抗战时期的1944年，划入碧山乡雁山保。建国后几经调整：1956年成为池店区的一部分，1959年改由苏厝公社管辖，并隶属新店大队；1961年转归池店公社，设钱头大队；至1984年，才以村委会的形式运作。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

钱头状元第建于清光绪年间（1875—1908），又称吴鲁故居。其建筑分为状元第、宅院、书房三部分，并排而列，相邻的厝与厝之间隔有防火巷。[1]百度百科载吴鲁（1845—1912）为清代状元，是福建科举时代最后一位状元。[2]
