地名由来[edit]
村址原为开基者观使公搭屋居住之处，因潭边称塘边；北有数条大沟涧曲折，又称盘涧，后以谐音雅称潘径。[2]
人口[edit]
户籍人口5748人，以张姓居多，另有李、曾等姓。[1]
经济与侨乡[edit]
清代，村民把海埭的部分良田改作盐场，村落因渔盐之利而发展。[2]
近代以来有村民赴菲律宾经商，并带动亲族前往。[2]
