龙下村是东石镇下辖的行政村，位于东石镇西北部，距晋江市区16公里，距镇政府约3.5公里，东与平坑村相隔，南与永湖村相望，北与金瓯村相邻。[1]

地名由来[edit]

相传五代时，围头湾至东石海一带浪涛翻腾，宛如天龙下降，村因此称龙下。又一说村中古迹龙江禅寺之名使村名改为龙下。[2]

沿革[edit]

明清时归十都；1944年为东石乡龙杭保所在；1956年入东石区古塔乡。[2]

人口[edit]

登记户籍2250人，外来人口近五千。村中姓氏以陈、高、王、郑为主。[1]

文物与荣誉[edit]

龙江禅寺年代为民国，属近现代重要史迹，位于龙下自然村。[2]

2022年10月，龙下村列入2022年淘宝村名单。[2]
