本社区处在东石镇区中段，面积0.6平方千米；东边到弯道市场，西边以东石古寨为界，南面是晋江盐场的海堤，北边接永湖村。[1]

社区一带旧称钱头，后谐音改作前头，村前海港与龙江汇合，故又称鳌头。[2]

沿革[edit]

1986年后政社分开，东石大队原有五个支点分设五个社区，前头原属第二基点，遂称第二社区。[2]

人口[edit]

全社区5个居民小组，登记户籍人口2084人，另有流动人口1200余人；人数较多的姓氏依次为周、吴、蔡、黄。[1]

文物[edit]

东石寨位于本社区西侧，为省级文物保护单位，2009年11月公布。[3]

朱文公祠为市级文物保护单位，2026年1月重新划定了保护范围。[4]

东石金埔蔡氏宗祠为市级文物保护单位，清初始建，现存建筑是民国年间的重修本。[5]
