西霞美村是陈埭镇的行政村，村子处于泉州湾南岸一带，东侧靠近沿海大通道，西面离晋江市区约5公里，北接江头回族村，南靠南霞美村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

西霞美旧称西下尾，明代曾是一个较大的村落，后因海寇侵扰而一度荒废。明末清初，附近的林姓与泉州东门的蔡姓先后迁入，形成林、倪、蔡三姓聚居的西下尾村。[2]

清代归泉州南门外的二十七都管辖，村名为西滨西下尾。民国时属晋江县梧潭区。此后经过几次调整，才由陈埭人民公社管理。1978年，村民请求改名西霞美，获批后沿用至今。1997年，西霞美经申请成为独立行政村。[2]

经济与建设[edit]

村中企业起步于手工作坊，后逐步引进机械设备。现有制鞋、鞋材、制衣、建筑等企业。[2]

庙宇[edit]

村中有上天圣母宫、镇宅馆等宫庙，以及碧莲寺。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2002年，西霞美村被泉州市委、市政府评为「宽裕型文明村」，2003年和2007年被评为「文明村」。2021年2月，村庄入选「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单；2021年6月，被命名为「2020年度晋江市平安村（社区）」。[1][2]
