太昌村在磁灶镇东南部，距镇政府约4公里。村里由太昌、倒桥、杏田三个自然村组成，各村都通了公路[1][2][3]。

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历是：这里原是大宅村分出的三房，后来人丁单薄，前人盼望子孙兴旺，于是定名太昌[2]。

明清时属三都。民国时属锦牧乡大宅。1961年设磁灶公社太昌大队；1984年改设磁灶镇太昌村委会[2]。

地理环境[edit]

村南有陶英中学，东面是东山水库。村域面积约4平方千米，耕地1235亩[2]。

经济[edit]

村里有陶瓷厂、造纸厂和包装厂，村民以农业和禽畜养殖为主[2]。

文化[edit]

村内有鹰山禅寺，供奉如来佛祖和观世音菩萨，祭祀香期在农历正月初十[3]。村中另有一座祠堂[2]。
