历史沿革[edit]
1960年，因新垵水库兴建，石湖边、高厝林、杏当三个自然村的居民迁移到此。他们与新垵、山仔两个自然村，原属南安县官桥公社三同大队，再加上妹山自然村，共同组成了今天的新垵村[1][2]。
地理环境[edit]
村辖六个自然村：妹山、山仔、石湖边、新垵、杏当、高厝林。这里属亚热带气候，年平均气温22.3摄氏度，年降水量980.5毫米[1][3]。
人口民族[edit]
村中以林、苏两姓居多，另有蔡、李、黄、谢等姓[3]。
文化[edit]
杏当自然村是老革命基点村。该村的比干公庙、福寿庙和土地公庙三座庙宇，分别设在妹山、山仔和新垵三个自然村的村口[1][3]。
