湖格社区属晋江市新塘街道，地处丘陵地带。社区原名湖隔，因古时村前有湖泊阻隔出行而得名，后以方言谐音写作湖格。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

相传古时村前有一湖泊，村民出行多受阻隔，故称湖隔，后以方言谐音写作湖格。社区居委会的名称取自所辖自然村的片名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1956年属栖梧区坂山乡，1959年为罗山公社湖格大队，1984年改为罗山乡湖格村委会，1991年归罗山镇湖格村委会管辖。2003年，罗山镇拆分为数个街道，湖格改属新塘街道，设社区居委会。[1]

社区地处丘陵，山地与农田面积大致相当。[2]
