地名由来[edit]
杏田始祖于宋时定居碧山后，在一处横向的土墩上垦田筑屋，地名因此称横墩，又称行墩、杏墩。因聚居者多为王姓，又称王墩、王田。村落濒海，涨潮时如大船浮于汪洋，另称杏船。清末民初，取杏墩与王田各一字合称杏田。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1956年属栖梧区后洋乡，1958年为罗山公社杏田大队。1961年，村中一部分自然村另立大队，其余仍称杏田大队。1984年设罗山乡杏田村委会，1991年起称罗山镇杏田村委会。2003年11月起，杏田改设新塘街道杏田社区居委会。[1]

社区面积3.4平方千米，多水田，地势平缓，濒临海边。[1]
人口民族[edit]
博雅地名网载社区人口约3000人，未注明统计年份。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
社区内有宫庙数座，其中延庆寺建于1316年，寺额「延庆寺」为明代书法家曾石生所题。清初兵乱中寺院遭毁，1990年重新修建。[2]
王田母亲井位于杏田僻头山，据晋水王田谱牒所载建于南宋乾道年间（约1165年），2007年6月立碑纪念。[2]
文化[edit]
2021年6月，社区被命名为「2020年度晋江市平安村（社区）」，评为三星级。[1]
