下埔社区是罗山街道的一个社区，地处晋江机场南侧，原名虾埔。社区设有8个居民小组，2003年才设立居委会。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

社区原名虾埔。过去此地濒临海湾，门前便是滩涂，居民以捕捞、晾晒和经营鱼虾谋生，因而得名。后因地处一处小山坡（俗称埔）的下方，改称下埔。[1][3]

元末，此地已有王氏居住，子孙繁衍，留有王氏宗祠和八座王氏祖厝。此后归属曾几度变动：1960年后隶属罗山公社，1980年分出设为罗山下埔大队，1984年改设村委会，2003年才设为社区居委会。[2][3]

社区耕地面积为775亩，水田与农地分别为205亩与570亩。产业以汽车配件、聚塑造粒、废塑加工和纸箱加工为主，另有五金与服装加工在此落户。[2]
