缺塘社区在晋江市罗山街道北部，与青阳街道相邻，2004年8月由缺塘村改设为社区居委会。社区面积约1170亩，设10个居民小组，常住人口4000多人。[1][2][4]

历史沿革[edit]

南宋乾道年间，军民为抗旱开凿七首塘。村落恰好坐落在塘的引水缺口处，因而得名缺塘。[1]

明代此地称金塘村，入清后改称缺塘村，明清两代隶属二十八都。1944年归大同乡济原保管辖。新中国成立后，区划更迭频繁，直到1963年才定为缺塘大队；1984年改设村委会，2004年8月转为社区居委会。[3]

明代居民多为许姓与陈姓，清代中末期他们陆续迁往外地。[3]

人口民族[edit]

社区常住人口4000多人。此外，海外人口有200多人，外来人口则超过一万。[2][4]

经济[edit]

社区现有企业二十余家，涉及食品饮料与包装印刷等行业。另外，社区设有老年人基金会。[2]

文化[edit]

辖区内有育德小学，小学三年级起即开设电脑与英语课程，同时设有教育基金会。[2]

1999年之后，社区多次获晋江市委授予「五个好」村（居）党支部称号，并曾被省、泉州市和晋江市评为「敬老模范村（居）」。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

社区内有缺塘蔡氏祖宅，为一般文物点。[5]
