苏塘社区位于晋江市西大门，地处沈海高速晋江出口处，交通便利。[1]

早年苏姓在此择居，村中原有一口池塘，故名苏塘。社区的苏氏后裔分散到菲律宾、香港、澳门和台湾等地。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

元代时它属晋江的三十一都。明清间归泉州府南门外三十一都管辖，1944年成为碧山乡的一部分。[1]

1956年划入池店区，此后1959年改隶磁灶公社，1961年又归青阳公社。1984年成立青阳镇苏塘村委会；2003年11月，它由青阳镇分出，并入西园街道，成为苏塘社区居委会。[1]

建筑与文物[edit]

苏塘新厝厅位于社区居委会办公楼对面，坐西北向东南，为三开间带两榉头、双面护厝的民居，墙面贴釉面砖。据2023年报道，它是一般文物点，对研究闽南传统民居有较重要的意义。[2]
