村名来自村前姑嫂塔一带的一块石头，村中所产石料质地坚硬洁白。[1]

地名由来[edit]

据说村子建在姑嫂塔前的石头上，故名“塔石”。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村后的虎岫寺位于宝盖山东麓。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

南宋绍兴二十五年（1155年）设塔石堡。1956年设塔石高级社，1984年改称塔石村民委员会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村后的虎岫寺建于唐贞观年间，是泉南一带最早的道观，历代屡经修整扩建。[1]

寺中的虎岫摩崖石刻年代标注为宋、清、民，列为市级文物保护单位。原有历代崖刻46方，多数在采石中被毁。[2][1]
