前埔村因村址位于宝盖山前的坡地上而得名，旧称龙坡。[1][2]

村中的蔡氏家族自称龙坡蔡氏，村中有上将蔡英挺等人物。[2][3]

地名由来[edit]

村址在宝盖山前的坡地上，故得名前埔。[1]

村中蔡氏据族谱称，其始祖由莆田迁到泉州，后又迁居大孤山南，再移至龙起之地，村因此称“龙坡”。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

清乾隆年间，施氏开始迁来此地。[2]

1942年，村中两所小学合并，取名前步小学，当地也有人把前埔叫作前步。[2]

1994年复称前埔村，此前的1984年为前坡村委会，1980年则是分出后的前埔大队。[1]

人物[edit]

前埔村人蔡英挺为上将，曾任南京军区司令员，并为中共第十八届中央委员。[3]

荣誉[edit]

2019年12月，被认定为「全国乡村治理示范村」；2020年11月，获「第六届全国文明村镇」称号；2020年12月，被确定为「福建省第一批高级版绿盈乡村」。[1]
