西岑村位于永宁镇西隅，距镇区约3千米，南临深沪湾。[2]

村中西岑溪又称玉带溪，西岑亦有雅称“岑江”。[2]

地名由来[edit]

王氏与施氏先后迁入永宁西部的海滨小山坎地建居，闽南方言称滨海小山坎为“岑”，故名西岑。[2]

地理环境[edit]

村中有一条大溪，发源于宝盖山，向东南流经村子，注入深沪湾。溪长约500米，流域面积2万平方米，因在西岑境内被称作西岑溪。涨潮时水势浩荡，阳光下溪水闪亮如玉带，又称玉带溪。[2]

姓氏宗族[edit]

村中主要姓氏为王、施二氏。王氏于明初洪武年间迁入，施氏则于元末明初迁入。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1956年办起西岑高级社，此后于1958年成为大队，1984年改为村民委员会。[1]
