郭宅村位于永宁镇北部，距镇区约2.8千米，东邻下宅村，西接塔石村，南与沙美村相接，北与后杆柄村毗邻。[2]

村中主要姓氏为洪、蔡二姓，境内并没有郭姓居住过，村名“郭宅”由迁移而来的历史音变而成。[2]

地名由来[edit]

旧时村民从前址迁到此地，闽南方言中“过”与“郭”谐音，村名由“过宅”逐渐写作“郭宅”。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1956年设郭宅高级社，1984年拆出设立郭宅村委会。[1]
