地名由来[edit]
宋元时期，此地开发之前，西边建有一座规模宏大的寺院，名为“西院”，后来全部倒塌。明朝洪武年间，吴氏先人从晋江吴厝迁来此地定居，因位于寺院遗址之东，遂称“院东”。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
1956年设院东高级社，1984年分出设立院东村民委员会。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
吴景重宅又称东璧古厝，建于清光绪二十二年（1896年），建筑面积330平方米，格局为两落五开间，砖石木结构，屋身石雕、砖雕、木雕俱全。2020年3月15日，由石狮市公布为第三批市级文物保护单位。[3]
