东店村是石狮市锦尚镇东北部的沿海渔村，东面临台湾海峡，北邻伍堡，南接厝上村。村名据传来自古时路旁的一间小店，店铺周围后来渐成村落。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

村中最早开基的是陈氏，距今八百多年，村里曾挖出一块名为「陈界」的石碑。约五百年前，傅氏后人自祥芝迁来，之后侯氏、李氏等族陆续迁入。[3]

上世纪六十年代，村里设立渔业市场，后迁至村前海边，如今是锦尚镇内唯一的民间渔业交易市场。北边原有驻军，部队调走后，旧营地上建成紫竹寺观音宫。[3]

人口与经济[edit]

石狮市人民政府网站的村情简介列住户1024户，户籍人口3278人，常住人口3851人。百度百科所引户籍人口为3450人，与政府数字不同。[1][2]

村民以渔业为主，兼营海上运输，也有人从事服装纺织。[1]
