东埔一村濒临台湾海峡，位于石狮东部沿海的突出部，村中有国家一级渔港和鸿山陆岛交通码头。[1]

村民以渔业生产和海产品加工为主要营生，村中有各类海洋捕捞渔船62艘，全村分为12个村民小组。[1]

地名由来[edit]

东埔一带古时写作“东波”，清代《西山杂志》解释为东临大海、波涛万顷，村名即由此而来。[2]

另一说法称，村人以渔为生，渔舟返航时满载鱼获，埔地上鱼货堆积，故称“东埔”，又名“东坡”。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

这一带在宋代隶属安仁乡永宁里，明清时期归二十都，民国时作复兴乡的东埔保。[2]

1949年划入晋江县第九区，1955年改隶双湖区，1956年归莲塘区东埔乡，1958年成为祥芝公社东埔大队。[2]

1980年12月，村里从东埔大队另行划出，成为东埔第一生产队；1985年改设东埔第一村委会（隶属祥芝乡），1988年10月归石狮市祥芝乡。[2]

渔港与交通[edit]

东埔渔港码头在东埔一带东面的海域上。1993年5月一期工程动工，同年7月完工；1997年12月二期动工，2000年1月底竣工。[3]
