鸿山镇政府驻在伍堡村。本村北邻西墩，东邻东埔，西南方有溪水流入大海。[1]

村内有1个污控区、1个科技园区和热电厂，另有约21家漂染厂。[1]

地名与历史[edit]

村名有几种说法。一说五代后周广顺三年（953年），已有伍姓渔民在此以石块围成棚屋定居，村因此名“伍堡”；此后伍姓迁往他处，王、邱、黄、许等姓陆续迁入。[2]

另一说，明末清初郑成功部将在此滨海处筑起五座堡垒，驻兵守卫，用以策应蚶江与乌龟屿一带的守军；“五堡”之名后写作“伍堡”。“五堡”一名已见于道光《晋江县志·铺递志》。[2]

1949年村属晋江县第九区伍鸿乡，乡名取伍堡与鸿山各一字。1955年改隶双湖区，1956年归莲塘区；1958年划入祥芝公社，成为伍鸿大队；1984年改设祥芝乡伍堡村委会。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

村辖面积3.5平方公里，耕地3000多亩，外来人口约1万人，全村有住户1987户。[1]

伍堡污染工业集中控制区1992年创建，占地近1000亩，入驻的染整、电镀企业是鸿山的主要工业基地。[3]

荣誉[edit]

2022年11月，伍堡村被确定为「2022年泉州市中级版“绿盈乡村”」。[2]
